CATO is in the process of establishing communication links between all SWAT teams in the State that are interested in participating. How often have you heard "through the grape vine" about a significant tactical operation, only to find out sometime later that the actual events were greatly different from the rumors. Would it not be beneficial to know who you could contact for reliable information? Even more beneficial, would be having the ability to communicate with other special weapons teams rapidly and effectively. By posting a message on the Tac Talk forum, many SWAT members can be informed simultaneously, and in a private secured area. Through E-mail and Internet systems, SWAT Commanders and team members can rapidly and effectively share significant information. The secure systems are password protected with some of the most advanced security features available. Email encryption software is also currently being tested out by CATO members. We will advise of the results soon. The CATO SWAT Email Communication System; the "Hot Line" presently includes over 1500 SWAT team members from across the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Germany & Finland. This is such a powerful communication system; the numbers of SWAT participants from around the world are increasing at an enormous rate. By the time you are reading this, the number will probably have doubled and no telling how many members we will have by the end of the year. The capacity of Email to instantly transmit messages across the street or around the world is a technology we cannot overlook. The capability to send one message simultaneously to hundreds of SWAT members gives us the ability to share knowledge, issues and concerns, like never before. If you or your SWAT team are not already participating in these communication systems and wish to. You may email the CATO office at: cato@cox.net.
