CATO Regional
Representatives Wanted
In an effort to
effectively and efficiently provide open channels
of communication for tactical teams across the
state, the CATO has developed the "Regional
Representative" program. The state of California is
divided into seven Mutual Aid regions. Most of the
counties in these regions currently hold area SWAT
Commander's meetings, usually on a quarterly basis.
At each of these meetings, important topics and
issues are discussed. Generally, only the
individuals attending these meetings benefit from
the information exchanged.
The CATO has created a
mechanism to share relevant information discussed
at local SWAT Commander's meetings, with other SWAT
teams which currently share the same concerns or in
the future will be faced with the same issues. For
those areas not currently conducting local SWAT
Commanders meetings, the CATO can assist in
organizing these important forums in various areas.
Significant topics and issues discussed during area
SWAT Commander's meetings will be listed in the
CATO News publication as well as posted in the
secure area of the CATO web site. The CATO web site
provides for rapid information exchange and
contacts for acquiring additional topic specific or
general information.
Each CATO Regional
Representative is tasked with establishing liaison
with and attending designated SWAT Commander's
meetings and or accumulating information to be
shared with other SWAT Commanders. CATO Regional
Representatives will contribute to these meetings,
current and relevant information from other regions
in the state.
Motivated individuals
interested in becoming a CATO Regional
Representative, can contact the CATO main office.
SWAT Commanders are encouraged to provide the CATO
with dates, times, and locations of upcoming
Commanders meetings.
Tactical teams are
encountering new and different methods used by
modern enterprising criminals. As a result we are
learning better and innovative methods. Our weak
area is in communicating what we are learning and
encountering, to other tactical teams throughout
the state.
When it comes to making
important information rapidly and readily available
to other agencies within the special weapons team
community, we have been regrettably lacking. It
requires hard working, motivated individuals
working together in a systematic manner to create
and maintain beneficial channels of
communication.
If YOU possess the time,
desire, and commitment to work on improving the
level of knowledge and expertise within tactical
teams across the most populated state in the
nation, then contact the CATO office and inquire
about becoming a CATO Regional
Representative.
